Start the Day with a Community Breakfast and Smoking Ceremony
Begin Australia Day with a meaningful morning at Victoria Gardens in East Perth from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. A traditional Smoking Ceremony led by a respected Whadjuk Noongar Elder will promote healing and respect for the land, while a BBQ breakfast, served by the Rotary Club of Heirisson, offers a tasty start to the day. Food trucks will offer a variety of global cuisines, celebrating Australia’s rich multicultural heritage, while the new Multicultural Activation Zone will feature cultural performances, activity-based experiences, and community stalls.
The evening concludes with a spectacular drone and fireworks show above the Swan River a 30-minute dazzling display that promises to amaze kids and adults alike.
Australia Day in Rockingham
Families looking to head a bit further out can visit Churchill Park at Rockingham Foreshore from 5:00 pm to 8:45 pm. The event includes stage performances, roaming entertainment, children’s activities, amusement rides, food vendors, and a vibrant fireworks display.

Chilli in the Valley at Swan Settlers Market
From 24th to 26th January, Swan Settlers Market in Herne Hill hosts Chilli in the Valley, a fun-filled festival perfect for school holidays. Kids will love the petting zoo, scavenger hunts, and family-friendly activities, while adults can explore spice-filled stalls, enjoy live music, and watch chilli eating competitions like the Hot Wings Challenge. Entry is free, making it a great option for a day out with the family.
